    splishsplash
    (1 item)

My big, heavy, partridge serving dish measures approx. 14" by 10", is hand painted by LUCA.
Made by Leon Coiffe who began manufacturing at 66 route de Paris on 15th April 1872 and who exhibited at the Central Union of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1884.
The painter's signature is LUCA, and although I have seen this signature on other pieces, I have no idea who he/she was.

That plate, splishsplash, is simply divine. I hope you will share more of your Limoges.

What have you tried to find Luca?

Tried the internet, but may have to take it into the Limoges Porcelain Museum and get them to give me an opinion.

There were a number of Luca in SignatureFinder, but all seemed to be painters on canvas with no matching handwriting that I saw. Could be LUCA is not a real name? Of course, since you are so close to the source, a visit might be your best chance. Good luck! :)

The painters called Luca were all Italian and painting in the 17th & 18th centuries, I'm wondering if the first letter is something other than an L.
The artwork is so accomplished though, that I find it hard to believe it wasn't a well known decorator.

I wondered the same about the L. You said you saw other examples, presumably with the same first letter, shaped the same way?

I have discovered that it is Luca and he was a well known and respected hand painter of porcelain between 1900 and 1920.
