Hi lizzy10314. If you can post a clear image of the mark, I will happily have a look for you.
Thanks katherinescollections. I will post more of my Limoges soon. Good weather keeping me in the garden at the moment!
The pattern looks very similar to this one doesn't it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-LIMOGES-PORCELAIN-CAKE-PLATE-BAWO-DOTTER-ELITE-/200324178327?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ea4406197
The Red overglaze decorating mark is I think, Bawo & Dotter mark 9. 1900 to 1914 The green mark 5 is also Bawo & Dotter underglaze factory mark after 1900. Bawo & Dotter were New York importers who...
I have discovered that it is Luca and he was a well known and respected hand painter of porcelain between 1900 and 1920.
Glad I could be of help. I'm here on the spot so to speak, so, although no expert, I am happy to help if I can. We have lots of Limoges items for sale at our brocantes and boot sales.
It must be after 1891 though, and here's why. The McKinley Tariff Law went into effect in 1891 and all imported goods after that time were required to be marked with the name of the country of origin...
The painters called Luca were all Italian and painting in the 17th & 18th centuries, I'm wondering if the first letter is something other than an L. The artwork is so accomplished though, that I find...
Tried the internet, but may have to take it into the Limoges Porcelain Museum and get them to give me an opinion.
The stamp is William Guerin & Co 1891/1927, though I suspect you know that now.
It is, and I think it is one of the earlier stamp marks.
The stamp is from the factory Ceramique Limousine who manufactured from 1952-1958
Andre Francois, porcelain manufacturer founded in 1912. Sold on to Paroutaud in 1917, closed in 1962.
Tressemanes & Vogt Limoges, perhaps they were made for the Bavarian tourist market?
Tressemanes & Vogt, registered as porcelain manufacturers in 1899.
Inkwell and pen holders.
I have replied, hope it helps.
Laviolette, R and Leroux from 1901 onwards.
Tressemanes & Vogt manufacturers from 1899.
Thank you.
I can try. I actually live in Limoges, so I'm no expert, but I do take an interest in the porcelain.
The mark is of Redon, Barny et Rigoni. They manufactured Limoges porcelain from 1902.
Limoges Castel, founded by Jean Chateau in 1944. Purchased by M.Decoster in 1973. Specialised in miniatures and giftware.
I can tell you that the Elite mark was used after 1920 when the original factory was taken over by Guerin Pouyat.
