Very heavy and screws or bolts down. Looks to have originally been black enamel with gold decoration. It has a wheel with a handle, which holds a plane type blade (not very sharp). the central column has a number 5 on it. the feed bed has an adjustable 'V' on it. Presume right hand turned the wheel with the blade in it and the left hand held whatever was being shaved up against the wheel face.
Hi I used one of these machines for nearly 50 years, as a letterpress machine operator and compositor, we called it a Bowler it was used to miter wood and lead strips to space out printing type.
