Another Silver Compact with an oval centrepiece of a miniature profile portrait of a lady from the historical pass, there is a signature, but I can't make out all the letters. The compact is decorated in elaborate swirls and flowers etc. There is still powder in the compact, I'm not sure if this is good or bad. One of the photos shows the clasp that has 800 for Silver, and a makers mark which is for Cappelli L. & Orlandi C. These Marks were introduced in 1934 by the Fascist Goverment of Mussolini. In the Makers Mark the 24 stands for the Makers name, which is above, the next symbol is the Fascist Mark, and the F I stands for Firenze which is Florence.
I do not know when this compact was made but the company was in business between 1935 to 1955. I have looked on the web but can not find any more work from these people.

To be honest Rick I'm more interested in this one, I would love to know who the artist was, I don't have a loupe strong enough to read the signature. I'm going to my local jeweller here in Spain tomorrow, hopefully he might be able to read the letters fingers crossed.
I didn't know you lived in Spain Jean. What part? I spent many years in Zaragoza.
I'm down in the South Rick, Costa Del Sol, I'm slightly inland but I can still see the mountains behind me and the Med in front.
My nearest big town is Velez Malaga.
