This new addition to my small collection of Lotton is also the tallest, at 9.5 inches - This cobalt blue Multi-Flora vase was made by Charles Lotton in 1983. According to the book Lotton Art Glass, by D. Thomas O'Connor and Charles G. Lotton, when making these pieces, the first step in decoration was applying the vines, followed by the leaves, then the flowers, then the little glass eye in the center of each flower. One of the things I love about Lotton glass is the extra attention to details, like the polished pontil. This is not surprising, since one of his main sources of inspiration for getting into art glass was the acquisition in the Spring of 1970 of a piece of Loetz glass. By November of that year, he had built a small studio behind his home, and lit the furnace for the first time on November 17th.
Signed Charles Lotton 1983 on the bottom edge on one side, and Multi-Flora on the opposite side.
Gorgeous!
It's a beauty WARREN !!!
Nice piece of art glass. I love his work.
Great example of Charles' work! This one makes a nice addition to any Lotton collection and yours is certainly growing.
