I'm hoping someone can help me with this hand made item. Firstly does anyone know what type of wood it may be, it is very light to hold. I think it is well made. From the rear to the furthest horn is 4 inches. Across the back is approximately 2 inches. From the back of the skull to the tip of the nose is 1 1/2 inches long, it's height is 3 inches. I hope you like it as much as I do. I have said at times this is a Rhino my mistake it's a Buffalo. Thanks for the understanding.
Hi Zowie, aww he's lovely, I'd have him in my collection :) I've long given up trying to determine what type of wood a thing is. There're just too many. Then things are often dyed and painted so the original colour is hidden. There're better people than me here, who know their wood, maybe one will see this and help. All I can say is if it's lightweight it's unlikely to be a hardwood. Where it's from I have no idea. I agree it has a slight Japanese look, but I'd guess it's more likely from somewhere where buffalo live, African maybe? Sorry I can't be of more help. He's nice wherever he's from. I love his stance and horns :)
Thanks vintagefran & yes I realised last night it is a Buffalo silly me yes & Buffalos live in water everyone knows that speak of stating the obvious. Must be having a blond day no offence anyone who may be blond.
Hi Zowie. I saw a buffalo today very like yours here. It was described as Japanese :)
Thanks for that when you say here I gather you mean CW if that is the case I will have to look around to see if I can find it. Yesterday & of late with this odd weather I have been loosing my lines & not coming back or I cannot get one either way. Yeah it's frustrating when you are trying to do something & it keeps dropping out on me. The last thing I want to get in the habit of doing again is sitting up all night to try & get things done been there done that. My machine is ok just the weather. As there is no information on my Buffalo I had no idea were it was from for all I knew it could of been home made. I think I paid about fifty cents for it as I purchased a few things at the time & all up it was only $2 I seem to be getting hold of all sorts of animals this year it's just working out that way they don't take up much room. Everyone else thanks for the love.
