The glass Planters Peanut jar these were in was only about 3/4 full. Pic one is all I could fit on my photography platform. In pic two is the remainder of this stash of teeth that are millions of years old. Several are pieces, had they remained whole, would have exceeding the size of the big tooth I posted earlier. I have 2 or 3 other partial jars with as many teeth in each one as you see here. I would surmise there are at least two thousand teeth pictured here. The location of the rest of my collection is presently "unknown". I will say that I have several days labor in finding just what you see here. Probably closer to a years labor.

Yea, About the only thing positive about me is that I'm 110% honest. Kinda has got me in trouble before, but, oh well. This is just a small piece of what we've found over the years. I think the other teeth are in a couple of wine bottles with a cork in each one, but where they are is beyond me. Probably in a box somewhere in the attic because I haven't seen them for some time.Hopefully they'll turn up. But really some of these are so small that you could fit a couple hundred in a shot glass. Thanks for looking.

Come on down. I'll have at least a hundred in your pocket before the day is done.

I lived in Coral Springs for a year when I was three, haven't seen the Pacific since, other than a brief stop in Chesapeake about thirteen years ago.

I'm actually on the other coast in N.E. Florida on the Atlantic ocean. But I've surfed in Ca. and it's very nice there. It's just the water is too damn cold.

Ha! I must be tired, I meant Atlantic! :P

I love your picture! Is Buck Island not too far from Jacksonville, FL? If so, my dad took my brothers and I here many weekends when we were kids in the mid-70's. We would have contests to see who could find the most shark's teeth. Dad would pay a nickel for every tooth we found. Many great memories.

Yes. It's inside the city limits of Jacksonville. It's located in East Arlington. Where did you live exactly when you use to go there? We may have been out there together on the same days. Thanks for stopping by to take a look and also for your comment.

We lived in Arlington off University Blvd. from approx. 1972-1979. Just down the street from Lake Lucina and not too far from St. John's River. We would fish off a dock on the river and set crab traps either there or in the ocean. Getting old...memories fade some as time goes by! Hope I never forget the excitement of finding shark's teeth.
I'm glad I stumbled across your picture and comments. Now I have proof for my kids who think I'm crazy when I describe an "Island with giant dunes, huge dredged-out craters filled with muck, forrests, and a river bank with TONS of sharks teeth"! Sometimes I got the feeling we were tresspassing in a construction zone? Dad was a little eccentric!

I know the area well. I had a rental house on 2235 Lake Lucina Dr east and two others on Almira st. and Windemere dr.. The houses were built in the late 1950's by William Cesary and they were $7000 new off the lake and $9000 new on the lake. You must remember "The Donut Shop" (between Windemere & Wiltshire on the east side of Univ. blvd) on University between J.U. and the Arlington Expressway. People came from all over for these donuts. They opened early and would close when they had sold out which was usually before 11 am. It's still there and still selling donuts by the way. You also describe the island to a "T" so I know you've been there. If you remember the road as you past the Fort and where it dead ended just past the Ribault Column, I live on the right just before the dead end. The place (the island) is still there and the sharks teeth are still being found. You ought to come back some time and bring the kids and grand-kids. Thanks for looking and thanks for commenting. It is indeed a "small world". Have a great one.

I live about 5 min from there can you still hunt for shark teeth there. If not by land can you go by boat. My kids would love that.

Love it! I used to pick up Shark's Teeth on St Augustine Beach when the tide was out. I had hundreds, that I gave away to the local kids. Nice hoard!
