I think there needs to be more Lotton online and in my cabinets, so here is another one that fills both needs. :)

Another Multi Flora, this time in a Pink Verre de Soie finish with alternating vertical vines and leaves and pink flowers with yellow centers. Signed Charles Lotton 1981 on one side of the base, and Multi Flora on the other. Instead of a polished pontil, the base of this vase is ground and polished flat. Height about 6 inches.

Agreed, Frank - it's like a really interesting side hobby :) Don't worry - still lots of cool Loetz on the horizon :) And maybe a non-glass surprise or two.

      Stunning !!

....and Yes Folks, check on the sides for signatures. As they are NOT always signed on the bottom. Goes for any glass -- check sides too!!!

Your Lotton collection is growwwwing! :) Very nice example and, yes, Charles Lotton signed his pieces on both the bottom and the sides. He makes all of his glass in a two-step process using a blow rod in the first step creating the decoration, basic shape and color layers and a punty rod to finish the rim and shape. So technically all of his pieces have "polished" pontils but some have been polished flat while others also have a "dimple" in the center where the punty rod attached and made an indentation. In his early pieces you will also find "donuts" added to the pontil area.
