Have had this one for a while and still cannot confirm who the manufacturer is. It is a lidded candy or trinket dish, glazed in shades of green, bouquet of flowers both painted and of ceramic, gilded through out and most important- a woman figure as the handle Her appearance is somewhat Asian, which goes with the Pagoda styled lid with the upturned corners. Approx 7.5"H including the woman and 7" each side. If anyone recognized this pottery art and can tell me who made, I would be grateful. Even my friend, who has quite a collection is stumped. First, am I correct in assuming it is California pottery, as it is so similar to many popular pieces by other artists- but none close enough for me to confirm. Second, How did you determine your answer? by style, markings, etc. Thank you in advance for any and all help!!

I would have thought this was Japanese, not California. It's a beautiful dish, I would guess 50s or earlier. The gold speckling is reminiscent of Lefton, but perhaps others would offer a different opinion. I would try changing the category to Asian and see if one of the experts makes a comment.

Yes Katherine, I too was thinking Asian, but so many California artists produced pottery with Asian flare- I will try expanding to the Asian category (didn't think of it) thank you!

I would guess California pottery as well - particularly because of it's large size.
