Darrahlove…
(1 item)
I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this but I am desperate for your help. I have broken an Asian porcelain lamp that was handed down through my husbands family. If any one recognizes the pattern or can refer me to an expert I would be very grateful. The "vase-like" part of the lamp that shattered was approximately 26 inches.
In a shameless attempt to appeal for sympathy I would like to add that my husband is 41 years old and has pancreatic cancer that has spread to his liver and lymph nodes. He is very emotional over the loss of this family heirloom and is at a point in his life where he finds comfort in the sentimental objects let to him by his Aunt and Grandmother. Please contact me if you can offer any input. Email darrahlovesjeff@gmail.com
Very sorry to hear about your husband's illness.
In practical terms, I don't have anything to offer, one of the Asian experts may see your thread and comment. I hope they can help you.
Sorry to hear about illness !
If any help i think this is called satsuma ..
Thank you so much for the input. I am searching page after page of images based on the leads you gave me. I am not finding any markings on the base but I will continue to dig through the shards.
It occurs to me to ask if the lamp is salvageable to any degree. I'm sure it would be quite a project to glue it all back together, but perhaps the largest pieces?
you are a jewel for mankind you must love or have loved your husband very much
IMO this could possible be an Japanese vase coming from Kagoshima , and probably from Kyushu around 1900
, always remember this you ought to be proud of yourself, this is the ultimate love
