      That's a great trunk. A camelback with the inserts. The trunk people all like to restore their trunks but I prefer to keep things original as much as possible.

      Looks like an 1880's-90's barrel-top trunk. The latches seem unusual to me -- is there an insignia of an eagle on them? Curious...
      This trunk to me looks drab... so I would tend to do some restoration on it to brighten it up, including refinishing the staves. Is it metal or canvas in-between the tin? Canvas can be taken off and the wood refinished -- but as fortapache mentioned -- some just like the original old world look.
