I have previously posted (I think?) my Takeuchi designed Sasaki penguin and squirrel, so here are some recent additions to my Sasaki zoo.
The blue heron (or plover, or whatever) is moulded and then has been satinised. I don't know who the designer was for this critter, and I believe it is from the 1980s.
The tiger and rhino are also new, and are part of the great series designed by Denji Takeuchi. Like the rest of this series they are polished flat on the front, rounded on the back and have been cut for the eyes and stripes. All beautifully polished!
I think the rhino rocks!
Cool collection! You know I love critters ;-))
I adore the heron/plover.....the head and body, though different sizes, are almost the same shape.....just strategically placed to depict a bird to perfection! Some designer.....whoever s/he is.
The tiger and rhino (love his stripes) are gorgeous too.....just appeal to a different aesthetic! If the zoo has to close just let me know :-)
Hi Karen. These are delightful, soo cute. The blue birds unusual, great design!
Sasaki ... I have flutes from them ... Very nice ...
Love your little critter corner!
Kyra kisses critters!! Critters generally are pretty good but thanks for loving mine.
Peggy you have a very artistic eye. I just look at things but now I see the head/body thing! The flat backed animals are very minimalist I agree but work well! My problem? The zoo is breeding!!
Thanks Fran!
Eye - I like Sasaki's work too. Even their recent stuff (generally made in Romania et al) are pretty great. Thanks.
Thanks Share! Critters like this are good - not so sure about other critters like cockroaches....
Ken just as well you corrected that...I would have eventually noticed! Thanks for the love.
That's my rocky backyard (I live near a creek reserve).....no good for cricket but nice to look at. Winter is almost here - been down to under 10c overnight but the days are lovely and sunny and a brisk 18c or so. Yeah - we are weather wimps!
Sasaki wings ? Not Japan?
Wings series was still made in Japan.
Interesting ... Thanks for the info :)
Really lovely pieces, thanks for sharing them!!
very nice..
Ta Couldbe.
I've got a few more since then :)
