A relatively early Iwata vase, probably early 1950s, and most likely a Toshi Iwata design.
Quite a simple make; green and burgundy glass, cased in clear, blown and twisted.
What I think sets it apart is the unusual choice of colour. Great result though!
Iwata at this stage was very influential on the Japanese art glass world and this style of vase led on to the huge array of rainbow glass produced by Japan in the 1950s and early 1960s.
Height 28cm
It's a really BEAUTIFUL VAE !!!!!!!
BEAUTIFUL VASE !!!!!!!
Thanks Kevin. It's good work too!
It's a beauty :)...I don't know why but I find these pieces so fluid and tactile. They just beg to be picked up and studied.
How cool is the colour twist in this piece, love this racer ;-)
Yes, agree with mike, it's the fluid movement of the piece that makes these so wonderful to look at.
Beautiful colors:)
Very watery... Lovely!...:-)
Lovely. Like others, I want to touch it :)
such a lovely vase!!
Thanks for all the loves guys! I'm lovin' the love!!
I love this style of vase Karen. I've had several Murano ones and love how the twists add so much interest to the vase. Another great piece!
Thanks again Rick. Toshi Iwata spent some time on Murano in the 30s and no doubt was influenced by them. Japanese spin (sorry, bad pun) given to this in the colour I think.
