Hello CW friends from Sunny Florida!!!! I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!!! I Found this yesterday in Palatka Florida at one of my little honey holes I like to frequently go to:) We went to the Blue Crab Festival as we do every year, great food and games and rides for the kids.. I walked right by it the first time and then I walked right to it on my way out. I knew I would find something, they had a coca cola sign and picnic cooler but with most coca cola items they were absurdly over priced:( Finding this gem made it a win for me!!! I love the Mother and Daughter in the period clothes. My 5 year old daughter took the photo of me and the sign:)
Great find Trey !! Sounds like you had a fun day yesterday :-)

It's really interesting as my father built our house in a place called Rosanna. He was an Electrical Engineer so designed and did all the works. He put in a hotpont unit very very similar to this but around 1949-50. It was a hob based unit, meaning in sat on something, so this drawing is a mock up of it sitting on a stand rather than a real production item for its use. I would imaging many clever husbands or the cabinet makers of the time would have needed to make "integrated panels" that fitted in with the exiting kitchen units.
What is amazing me is this was produced in 1929 according to this newspaper advertisement. How the actual unit kept its design so similar to my mother and fathers. We only replaced it in the 1970's during some renovations made to the kitchen as I had nagged father about it. So out went our enameled cooker, reliable as ever. Although it did leak a little in the latter years and when cooking some cakes, they settled a little in the middle due to heat leakage. But a fine old institution and a sentimental family friend. What a great find you've made there Trey and I wonder how many of these are still being used in old houses today? :)
