I love my dragon on this paperweight/sculpture...he is so Japanese and joyful.
This piece demonstrates how varied works are from Japanese glass makers.
This is made by Tsukiyono, the name now for Joetsu Crystal (and still run by the Kurata family).
The production from Joetsu/Kurata/Tsukiyono has covered pressed glass, cut crystal, homewares, blown and moulded glass, one off art glass; like most art glass companies in Japan production is driven as much by the designers bent as any market need.
He's been moulded, cut, and acid treated. Typically for Japanese work, the image is intaglio.

This is wonderful Karen :)....I love dragons and intaglio !
Thanks Mike!
Up late? Do you ever sleep lol?
It's not late it's only 8PM here in Ohio and still daylight till 9:30 or so in the Spring/Summer. Plus we're getting a constant barage of little thunderstorms all evening. Nothing severe but it's gone from 85 down into the 60's by tomorrow. Ohio has the craziest weather :)
OK - sometimes it's hard to know coz I'm not on top of the time differenve...
stunning!!
