I have scoured the internet and requested info on this particular hand tool. it appears to be a finely made clamp of some sort...its about 12.5 inches long made of finely machined metal. Any clues would be helpful. I got it from a piano restoration expert who said it was handed down to him by his mentor. but every piano expert I talk to says its probably not piano related...thanks!

You sure went to a lot of trouble for explanations. I have no idea but could maybe use it for cracking coconuts.

It has a banding clamp, or wire rope clamp look to it, to me. Any marks on it as far as trademark symbol, etc.?
    5. Shurgosa, 9 years ago
the only marks are "DHS" on the square rod. it somewhate resembles a tensioning tool for steel shipping band...but there is nothing to suggest it upon inspection. just to beveled and smoothe surfaces, nothing to crimp the clips and nothing to grap and ratchet the banding...

thats the second most common guess as to what it is. first is rivet gun, second is something to do with steel shipping band. either crimping the metal clips or tightening the band

Those two beveled and smooth surfaces can compress a soft metal clamp, put your finger in and try it. Nooooo, don't do that! Have you tried this tool distributor web site yet?
