Got this at an estate sale, don't know much about it, thought someone might be able to help me with it. Is it a desirable or rare piece? Thank you.

Thank you! I guess I just need to buy a book to research value.

Very nice. Values fluctuate rapidly on these items. I usually check in the sold section of ebay to find good starting prices for auctions. A teacup and saucer in this exact pattern in blue went for over 200 bucks. Although this is a really pretty shade of pink and may be more desirable depending on what the people want at the time. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-NIPPON-NORITAKE-HAND-PAINTED-MORIAGE-BEADS-GOLD-CUP-SAUCER-SWANS-c1911-/361244039000?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item541bd29758&nma=true&si=NWWxhjwrXwOJBf0r5l6EvpsI2rE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Good info, thanks. Went to my local bookstore but no books on Nippon, specifically. It seems the pink background with the flying swans is fairly rare.
