From farm to aaaLakeside Storage Museum was a very fun trip. This very nice Bowser 491 pump was pumping diesel till the day we pulled it off the pipe stem and replaced it with a Brand New Fill Rite farm pump. That was one of the stipulations for our buying it. The pump has almost perfect skins as well as all the ad glass being in perfect original condition. The only "extra" we got with it was a whole lot of bird nest and bird poo that came free of charge, but which we will remove when we clean the glass and display it properly in front of our cool old Sinclair Service Station in Provo Utah.
We have worked on this old farmer (actually he is at least 10 yrs my junior) until he finally made us a deal HE couldn't refuse and we accepted it. Surprise to him!!! He was gone to a funeral the day we exchanged the pumps, but was thrilled with the new pump we installed and it seems to be working just fine. The hunting and finding was a lot more fun than the actual disconnecting and removal and then the replacement of the new pump, which, of course, we didn't have all the right fittings and proper bushings for so had to drive several miles away to find a hardware store which fortunately was open and had what we lacked. Keep on hunting as the fun is in the Hunt.
Another great story! And pump...
