I think this may be Welz due to the ribbing, the medallion and the style of handle .....though I could be wrong! There are three layers of glass....white, pink and clear on the outside.
Height 12 cm./4.5 " Diameter 5 cm./2 " Depth 4.5 cm./1.75"
That is just way pretty! I'm in girly lust for this one Peggy.
Very purdy!!!:-)
So, two votes for pretty then!......thank you Karen and inky :-)
3 votes for pretty :) I do love pink glass!!
Thanks, Fran, for stopping to comment :-)
I am going for Welz, too. Here is a very similar shape, in a known Welz spatter decor, I believe: https://www.etsy.com/listing/226740758/antique-victorian-vase-art-glass-spangle?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=end%20of%20day%20vase&ref=sr_gallery_12
Thank you, Michelle......a really interesting link. So very Welz in the sense that the 'essential' shape is the same, but the 'outer reaches', in this case neck and foot, are different. I notice this a lot.
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!love this color and shape!!
Big stretch to Welz from the sample but I think some of the other Welz examples around if they too are Welz might be more compelling as a story...
It looks like one of those candy love hearts but glaze in a thick lushly clear glaze to bite in to...and a slight steam roller look in the circular jammed in to a chemist pharmacy bottle...how's that for paint a picture in words...lol...
It's a beauty ....
I agree that the basic body form is the same on this one and Michelle's link. If you cut both off at the bottom of the body and the top of the body, the form you have left is the same. Same ribbing, same medallion, same angular twist to the ribbing on the body. Different foot and neck. Even the way the handles look and attach to the body is quite similar.
Truly a gorgeous piece Peggy!! What really excites me about it is all that ribbing going this way and that... Great Vase!!!
SEAN.....love the 'wow' :-))) Thanks!
Thank you, Anne......original as ever!!
Craig, thanks......I always welcome your view. I've a small collection of pieces with medallions. Only four in total, but with medallions in three different sizes.
Rick, thanks.....there's certainly a lot going on for such a small vase!
