Usually it is extremely challenging to find big signs on poles, but this was a rare exception. While we were at the Thanksgiving Point swap meet and in the process of loading up a cute Wayne 60 gas pump we heard a guy talking to the seller of our new pump mention that he had a visible pump he was thinking about selling and wondered what it was worth. Of course my ears perked up and I immediately entered the conversation and found that he had a partly restored Wayne 615 for sale & made arrangements to go and see it the next day. See it we did and buy it we did and that was when he mentioned that he also had this cool American sign on a pole and was thinking about selling it as well. Since it was in another town out by Colorado we made our deal without ever having seen it. Our negotiated price included delivery and this is what it looks like upon delivery.just needs a good clean up, some paint on the pole & the flame on the top!
Lucky day for us! This guy will look great in the String of signs on the East side of aaaLakeside Storage Museum in Provo Ut. Today will be another day of hunting as we have a lead on a rancher in Nevada who might want to trade us his UTOCO sign for a collection of Seed Signs we have. We shall see, but the real Fun is in the Hunt!
Is that a texaco pole and frame under the AMERICAN sign?
Is it? A Texaco frame and pole
I think the pole is the original pole for this sign. Texaco signs are round or 5 sided & this was never one of them.
