Ever seen one of these? I hadn't. An intriguing variation of Loetz Diaspora - the shape is classic turn-of-the-century Loetz (PN not found, but very few patterns from 1902-1903 have survived). This is the only Diaspora I have ever seen that didn't have an iridescent outer layer. The glass is nearly transparent, with a very pale green cast. It glows brightly under black light. I compared it carefully to the other Diaspora pieces in my collection, and it all matches up - the four part mold, the cratered pattern and texture on the outside and the interior indents, fire polished rim, ground and polished pontil - all check out. Not sure what to call this color - Urania, maybe?

    Stands about 6.5" tall.

Almost looks like a cross between Oceanic and Diaspora ... think Alfredo posted something on Oceanic variants here a few months back ...

Not seen a Diaspora using that glass color ... even under the Silberiris surface ... would look to the ground in the Oceanic for naming ??
