Hi. I acquired this trunk today, I am trying to find out the approximate date of it. It's a canvas covered trunk and appears to have been hand painted. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Your trunk is most likely English, German, or French. Any writing on the lock might help. (whatever language it is, so is your trunk) I would say your trunk is most likely from the early to mod 1900's.

I bought a very similar trunk yesterday, down to the same canvas print inside. Mine has two travel the labels from Freiburg\Brsg. It was being shipped to Chatham, New Jersey via New York. One has a date of 1961. When I researched the trunk, it came up as a "Georg Schalk" trunk. That's all I've been able to find. I would appreciate any information about this trunk. I haven't found any names or dates on any of the metal. Have you found anything else out about yours? If you refinished it, I would love to see some pictures. Thank you.
