Rosewood (?) dragon lamp base

I purchased this lamp base about 25 years ago at a local auction but somehow never used it, so its been wrapped up in cupboard for some time. The wood is lovely and I believe Chinese Rosewood. It stands 53 cms high. Unfortunately the hanging lamp is not original and appears previous owner creatively used a stocking and sewed on! Hope you like it.
