I have a real liking for glass that is cased in a colour so when I saw this recently I decided to grab it.

It's not always obvious but the case here over the amber is a light blue.
The vase itself is not round, more ellipse shape, and the case on the sides is thicker to form definite ribs.

I am sure it is European although who by I don't know. Being a relative ignoramus where Italian glass is concerned I considered Cenedese but would love some direction from those who know.

      its divine.
I dont consider you an "ignoramus" on Italian glass at all; you're putting yourself down there unecessarily and being quite self deprocating without founding. I think your glass knowledge on the "other than Czech" glass topic is superio to most.

I have the odd bits of Italian. Empoli, Murano, Fratelli or Vetreria Etrusca, Vetreria Toso Bagnoli, still to make up my mind.
quite a few Italian vases I find have Made in Italy on them compared to Czech, British etc...any chance?

Could it be Sommerso? ONE OF MY FAVS...Murano Island? They did specialise in that separation and style of colour and are well know for it. Whats throwing me is the finish of the bottom . Most of their style would have continued the pattern to go down, across and around without the clear at the base if that makes sense. Which made me think it might be more Japanes but you would know that too...lol....

Sorry, I've been no help, just thinking out loud. Let me know if you get an answer. Gary occassionally dabbles in a little. And I will ask my Italian "supplier" if he knows but he is mainly Ventian and Murano. Can you flick me via email and I will send the photos to him? Cheers

This is really stunning! It does look like the lovely sommersos I see. Unfortunately I don't own any but would love to.

Anne I did say relative ignoramus lol. I know more than some but really not a lot.
I know this is not Japanese and the reason I thought of Cenedese was this size vase with that long neck was one of their styles.
Thanks for all your thoughts and ideas - I'll leave you mulling on it (so I don't have to lol).

I too love sommerso glass Karen. It's definitely a lovely, quality vase, but as far as Cenedese... Having never seen similar, your guess is as good as mine.
