bohemiangl…

Given where this item was found (Czech Republic), and marble swirl glass with enamel decoration, I'm pretty sure it is safe to say Bohemian. Loetz and Harrach are possibilities I would strongly consider. I do think it's very early. The glass is thick, and it is a very heavy piece - nearly two pounds in weight. Brown opal layer underneath with swirls of brown, creating the appearance of polished agate. The gold enameled decoration is very much of the historic revival period. The number 2. painted on the bottom offers no clues, other than it points to old school European. The gold frit around the rim also points to Loetz in my opinion. I think it could possibly be a commission of L. Boutigny in Paris. But those who know me know I try to keep an open mind. One thing is for sure - I love this piece!
