This is one of the very cool signs we recently purchased for our Museum. It is rough, but it is the first Union Pacific sign we have seen that was available. I'm not sure why these are so rare in our travels because all of the UP stations had them proudly displayed on the front of their stations? We were pretty excited to get this one and now we just need to clean it up a bit and find just the right spot to display it so it's not dwarfed by all of the big signs in the collection. Most gas/oil collectors are aware of the incestious relationship between the Railroads and Oil companies in the early days before oil pipe lines. The Oil Companies were completely held hostage by the Railroads to get their fuels transported to and from refineries. Often times the RR owned considerable stock in the Companis it hauled for. Shipping oil/gas for the RR was the bread and butter for their companies and the RR were often no friends to smaller Oil companies that didn't have the leverage to control freight charges. Tough business! Gas and Oil Companies were always about feast or famine and they often made it big and lost it big. I think we will just stick to the Self Storage business and hope that lots of people buy lots of toys and store them with us. Keep on Hunting as we love to store your cool stuff at aaaLakeside Storage.
