Hi, Just looking for some information on the oriental bowl I found. It stands 3 1/2" tall(deep) and 11" in diameter. There are no marks that I have found. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks Mark

Famille rose decorated in Guangzhou (Canton). Hard to make out the date on the rim, but I think it is 1877. A mid-19th c. date is right for this. Central scene depicts an episode from the famous novel Dream of the Red Chamber. However the rim has two lines of poems from the Tang poet Li Po.
See the year included on the rim ?? ?dingchou) after the two lines of poetry on the rim. Of course, that date could also refer to something else. . . .
The bottom line is stylistic pattern is generally useful but they are not hard and fast rules.
Story of the Stone = Dream of the Red Chamber.
must be 1877 , because it is guangzhu and it is a precusor of qianjiang see gilt rim
