I have had this little vase for a while now but unfortunately have not been able to locate it's history regardless internet and library book searches. I'm assuming Chinese. The mark on base appears to be hand painted not sealed. It is so pretty and completely covered with colourful flowers and gold background. If anyone could help identify its origin, I would be most appreciative. Hope you like it.

Very lovely vase, LuluX. I hope one of the resident Asian experts can help you with it. :)

Pretty little vase Lulu :).... Looks like a spurious Qianlomg Nian Zhi mark loosely translated to "done in the style of the Qianlong period." The 6 probably designates the factory. I have a few of this type of vase myself and they usually date from the 50's onward. Sometimes no mark is better when it comes to Asian as a lot of these marks are just part of the decoration. Gothborg.com is a great site for referencing marks on Chinese and Japanese porcelain.

Mikelv85 thank you for taking time to pass information on to me. I'm aged like a good wine however quite a novice in identifying vintage or antique items. Basically I have accumulated some bits and pieces from around WW2 that belonged to my father, I seem to have leaning to lovely Asian works that are mainly discovered at markets or Op Shops. Gothburg.com has been very helpful too. I could kick myself not buying a stunning cloisonné bowl yesterday from the Op shop for AU$20, it appeared and felt to be quality but because there was no mark on the base I left it. Thought about it all night went back and guess what .. the lady after me had bought it straight away. What I have learned from what you say is sometimes it is more a gut feeling and being drawn towards an object, and don't hesitate! I'm very pleased to have learned about my little vase. Thanks again :)

Thank you for your nice comment Deano, yes the photos seem to be deceptive to size:)
