I've decided to update the photos of this necklace.
A friend of mine did some restoration work on this piece. First he soldered two of the links from the Butterfly to the flowers on both sides. Then he took out the Jadeite from its filagree setting and gave it a good clean. Apparently there are clips between the Jadeite and filagree which were missing he replaced these, this is supposedly to let in the light and show the Jadeite to its full effect.
He also said this piece had history, it had been bashed around abit. I would love to know what the hallmark says.
Many thanks for looking
Can't help at all on the hallmark... These old jadeite pieces were originally sewn on clothes or hats, even parts of hair pins in Qing era.
Lot of these jades were mounted as jewellery after the fall of the Emperor.
Love it :-))
It is exquisite.
Thanks Kyra for your expertise and back ground on these types of pieces.
Hi oldandsilly, First of all thanks for the link, I've looked and looked but can't see the wingon hallmark, the mark on this necklace is worn and not clear, I'm very grateful for your interest and your help :-)
Thanks yet again Karen for your lovely comment.
Many thanks
