I'm on the same quest, mcdode. Found mine years ago at an antique mall for a few bucks and just had it sitting around dressing up the house ~ until I came across this ebay completed auction (# 270699377182 ) for a Mickey Mouse figure with what appears to be identical construction & style. It is identified as the FIRST Mickey branded toy and was copyrighted in 1928-30. Now I definitely want to know more about this little pup. I can't find anything on the web indicating that it is a WDP toy, though or even that it is cartoon-based. Hope someone here has something to add....

I have learned that the Mickey figure was made by the George Borgfeldt Corp. No indication that I have found that they made our pups.
