This ring is huge! I came across it today and recall looking at it a few weeks ago. I bought it for a few dollars but have absolutely no knowledge of its origin. It's very nice for costume jewellery but also reasonably heavy. The stone is remarkable, backed by what looks like a silver or metal piece behind the stone. The band is an intricate but strangely looks hand made. I don't know what the stone is but after I bought it read kyratangos forum post, the stones look remarkably similar. Would love to hear your opinions. Hope you like it.
IStriking ring!
A closed back setting or foil makes identification very difficult, specially only from a pic!
If stone it is, looks like citrine cabochon.
As I love chunky rings, I would have bought it ;-)
I think you might be right about being citrine kyratango, a little lighter in colour than the one I wear as a pendant but quite as big. May have been a gentleman's ring (?) It does seem to have an integrity about it though. Thank you for you kind comments and luv :)
Thank you for luvs aghcollect, mikelv85, Manikin, Rustfarm and racer4four :)
I did a layman's test on the band, it didn't stick to the magnet. That's a good sign ?...
Aahhh, Lulu... Magnet test just tell it has no iron in it when it is not attracted!
It may be brass, bronze or any gilded metal and of course any precious metal too
;-D
Very ornate for a man's ring in my opinion...
You may show it to a jeweller for further examining.

Here you go, this is my Citrine story...I love it as a stone...and particuarly in an Art Nouveau setting :)
So the plot thickens and it is not as easy as I thought kyratango. I will do as you suggest and show to jeweller. Who knows .... it may well be worth the AUD $3.25 it cost me! I do love it anyway. Citrine is such a beautiful stone, and it looks great with my citrine pendant on thick gold chain. (Very 70's)! Thank you for your kind comments. :)
AnneLanders I read your citrine story, that is a beautiful brooch and in reality I imagine how it would complement the purple stones on the side. Thanks for the luv and sharing. X
Thank you Peasejean55 for the luv.:)
3.25 AUD.... How much per gram? :-D
It is a fabulous ring, LuluX! :)
kyratango I don't know :( I will weigh on my kitchen scales and let you know :)
