I have spend 5 years of slowly restoring this magnificent machine. Only 68 of these were ever built with right-hand-steering, built in Nov 1969 and delivered to Melbourne Australia in March 1970. The 3.5litre V8 engine gives this car plenty of acceleration with its 200horses. It was important to me to stay as close as possible to the original as the car rolled off the assembly line. Many nights on ebay fossicking for parts that are just not obtainable any longer. One of the most difficult items to find were the Kangol magnetic clip seat belts. After I had a set of retractable belts made that looked quiet correct in period terms, finally after 4 years of searching a set of 7 mint condition Kangols came up which had just been removed from a 600 Pullman. Original Roser Leather from Germany for the completely replaced interior was also a special find. A Melbourne musical instrument maker reveneered the wood in burl walnut. She won best in her class here in the Melbourne MB Concourse d'Elegance.
Gorgeous and a fantastic resto.
I am really happy to see this Benz.
I had a grey 220e ('64) for quite a while and dreamed of a coupe.
Thanks for showing us!
