This Gruen men's watch was another salvage from the same jewelry box as the ring I posted today. I first found the band with crystal (real glass not acrylic) minus the movement. A little more digging and I found that too. The finish on the face has a few scratches from rattling around in the box but the hands seemed fine. Even the miniscule sweep hand was still intact. It snaps into the crystal and is designed to be easily removable. It's a bit too loose now which is probably why it keeps fall out. While it is rather tired and worn it unbelievably still runs ! A testament to Gruen quality. I thought it was ruined until I got it home and simply wound it ! The case is marked Gruen J "gold filled" The band is solid on each side of the face with one green enamel panel and the other side is red enamel. It's bridged with an expandable section across the back for adjustment. This was a freebie because of it's condition or they would have just tossed it in the garbage ! -Mike-
Thanks Ken :)...I know Salvation does what they term "rag out" or severely discount items and sometimes they send things back to the main warehouse after a time. Small items like jewelry gets grab bagged in bulk and then it sells very quickly.
Very cool watch :)
I was going to say the same as nutsy there and then I kept reading and now my poor little heart is just breaking...OMG, I think I would have cried if I'd seen that!
Nah, on 2nd thought...you would have seen me yelling "STOP, STOP...Let me just go thru it real quick first"!!! LOL
They don't do the grab bag thing around here anymore Mike...lucky you! I used to love that. Always find good stuff. And I love that watch too!
Thanks so much Trey and Share for the "loves" and comments. :)... It is a cool watch and I'm really surprised it still runs. It would have been a shame if it had not been rescued and just pitched in the garbage. Right place at the right time !
nice trash snag......very cool watch
Thanks Kerry :)
You have a lot of nice items tucked away in your archives Mike!
Thanks Pops :)... Three years of collecting and posting on CW and counting !
