Good day All,
I've joined this site only today. I've always had an eye for antiques, but only recently realized that this is slowly but surely becoming my hobby and passion. I'm looking for possible assistance please.
I'm from South Africa and bought the trunk in the picture just now, collecting it this afternoon. I am unable to trace any similar pictures on the net or other sites. I'm told there is no other markings or stamps on it, only the sticker on the front "Regent Palace Hotel London". I am able to trace the sticker and relevant info on the hotel, but I'm struggling to date the trunk.
Is there anybody that can shed some light on this piece please?
Regards,
Yolandie
Fantastic trunk
That's an awesome trunk! There are plenty of trunk lovers here that can really assist you with lots of knowledge. Hopefully, they will chime in soon! Welcome!
Thank you. The trunk is now in my possession and I have found some more clues. Made in Cape Town, South Africa by Fraser and Son Ltd. The person travelled from S.A to London, stayed in Regent Palace Hotel and also stayed in the Cardozo Hotel, possibly in USA?
I was very surprised to find out that it was made in S.A, making this item so much more special to me.
Thank you for allowing me to show this trunk and telling the story

Its a lovely trunk and so good that you found out who made it. It is an unusual style and shape. I am having a bit of a problem understanding its scale and would you be able to post a pic of the interior? Thank you for your post and welcome to Collector's Weekly.
I'm so glad to see that so many people like this trunk, thank you!. Trunkman I will definitely post more pics on this as well as size.
