So yes, there's a lot of Asian stuff around my house, lol. I try to keep it all herded together, but the blue&white manages to sneak off with the other blue&white stuff, and the vases that sort of resemble each other go on another shelf with other stuff and anyway it looks like I live in a small store stacked with pretty little things. My daughter once showed me a book she had of Japanese interiors, they had these tremendous collections of stuff in their tiny little spaces. That, my friends, is love. I hope you enjoyed seeing these, and thanks for looking. Oh, and if you know anything about these vases, please feel free to share.
I'm a love Asian anything person myself Katherine :). You are lucky to have shelves . My floor vases all line the walls on the floor with the little ones in between them....lol

Well metaphorically speaking . :)... I should just hang a sign outside the says "Mike's Antiques" except we're not zoned commercially....lol.
Metaphorical floor space, I love it! :) And yes, I've often thought of hanging a sign myself, lol. I used to be part of a vintage group on FB where one of the women showed a small shed she had attached to her home she was planning to open as a little shop, it was the most marvelous little thing, the shelves were full of pretty things in different color sections. I think I'd like one like that. :)

OAS, thanks so much for your help, greatly appreciated! I will follow up on the blue and white on gotheburg, as you suggest. That jar has sat in with my other blue and white things, and back it will go, lol. I simply like the look of it. The other vases came from my grandmother's house, my guess is she picked them up at little local stores, and I didn't think they were of value, but they do look good together. :)

OAS, yes, in the 70s, 80s, 80s, my grandmother lived in an urban neighborhood with lots of little shops she liked to visit, and never came home without some little things. I doubt if she paid more than a dollar for these vases. :)
The blue and white is something I bought back in the 90s, from a yard sale, I think, I got a lot of vintage items from that sale as I recall. It seems to have some age on it, and is not mass produced, I don't think, judging by the surface, flaws, and glazes, as well as the opening. Can you tell me what this sort of pot is called?
Oh of course, a ginger jar, without the lid, I didn't recognize the shape <<or maybe Old Timer's Disease, lol. Thanks so much for your help with the style and with the age, glad we agree on that. :)

Unfortunately the vases, in terms of value, are not anything special or rare. Probably from the 70's or 80's. They're a very, very common type of ware.
I am also an Asian-lover, its my specialty. I'll show you some things to look for when buying. The first one is a piece I had by Yabu Meizan, who was THE most renowned Satsuma artist of the Meiji era. I paid $10 for it and sold it for $8,500. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever held in my hands, the level of detail was astounding.

This is a really good piece of Imari/Arita ware. Try to look for things that have very fine, hand-painted detail instead of transfer decals

This one is a very rare Kutani piece of early Toku Saka work. Its from the Meiji-era, and I haven't been able to find a single other piece, even on Japanese sites

Stillwater, thank you so much for sharing that specific information with examples to study, it is helpful for all of us to learn from experts like yourself. Greatly appreciated. The vases were from my grandmother's house, I keep them because they were hers, and because they look pretty grouped together along with some of her other Asian style things. As I said in my post, she was a person who liked the 99 cent stores and the thrift shops, no one would expect to find a valuable piece of porcelain on her shelves. Nor on mine for that matter. :)
