He is cute I know nothing of him but I think he looks like Ivory

      I believe he is alabaster.

      No doubt, ivory!
You can see the cross hatched Shreger lines on the bottom.
With the two holes, a netzuke, but I don't know if it was used or only decorative.
It has a signature, this is out of my knowledge :-)
The character I think Hotei, happy Buddha, will perhaps be confirmed by one of the Asian art people.

All that from a blurry picture, you are certainly good. I see something totally different but you are the expert. I will listen and learn.

Totally ivory, even blurred you can clearly see the Shreger lines. (They sort of look like a giant's dirty fingerprints all over the piece. Kyratango called it correctly.

I am learning every minute here and I certainly appreciate it. I never met anyone who could positively identify ivory from a blurry photo and what they assume are Shreger lines. A true educational experience today.

Thanks so much for that, OAS, how nice of you to explain what the others were discussing, I didn't know what a netsuke was, or I did, but not the proper name, I didn't remember that's what they were called. OAS, if I haven't said this before, I want to tell you how much your kind and patient manner on these threads is appreciated, at least by me. How you share your ideas and opinions is a real education for any who care to observe and learn.
