This is a c1883 tool chest that I purchased. It was in a sorry state, but it had the potential for be a spectacular piece after refurbishing. It is based on a traditional style and size. Being a basic lidded box 3ft long x 2ft wide x 2ft high. Skirted top and base and made from heavy black walnut wood.
To start the process I took all the badly tarnish brass trim, handles, etc off and hand cleaned every piece including the domed headed screw. This gave them a very nice patina showing all the nicks and bents after over a 120 years of use. I have added a new multi exotic wood veneer top in the same segmented pattern as the original. Antique brass lid stays. Pull handles. lock and swivel casters. The inside tills-trays. Lidded till & 3 drawer lidded till where all cleaned up.
The makers name. Napoleon. Noiseux. had his name painted on the front. It's some what faded now. (I may get it repainted) He is listed in The Worcester Almanac. Directory and Business. (Mass) 1884 printing as a Carpenter. 8 Norwich. 2 Boyle Ct.
