Jaguar E-Type Pedal Car
Two months ago I posted a few pictures of a pedal car I purchased and my intention was to build into an E-type of easier recognition, I think that has been achieved mainly due to decals.
The pictures you see now are as it is today, purists may not like it, but having tried to source original parts, was totally fruitless, so this is the option I chose.
Bumpers are MDF and shaped and painted I got the wheels from Italy the windscreen from America , transferes made in South Aust, badges from England seat is lambs wool, hood lining is leather and pin striping by hand by myself (still need practice) the paint is a jaguar series 3 blue (JDM) made up in a spray can for me. The head lights were from a swap meet.
It is my intention to have a pride of jaguar pedal cars to display with my real cars.
I understand that the original was made made in Japan during the 1960’s for the Asian market only.
The body is full steel and originally would of come with chromed hubcaps, bumpers and over-riders.
The light covers would of been plastic with chromed surrounds.
It's by no means perfect but so few of us are Ha Ha!
I have given it a face lift and added a few personal touches I hope it is worth having a look at.
Great job. I agree that ignoring the idea of purism can be a very good thing.
I agree with Karen .... a fabulous job. Totally cool !!!
Thanks guys I'm pretty happy with it I think it good to dare to be different. Having said that there is also a place for the fully original and the fully restored I suppose it's how any given item feels to you.
Cheers
I had a pedal car in the Fifties but ... 'Les essentiels' are there!!!!
I have two of these, in pretty good original condition.
Nice work! I have one in average/below condition and need suggestions on where I can get it valued. Live in the Cleveland area. Just do not have the time to put into a restoration.
Thanks for any help=)
Great job!
Sorry can't help you with suggestion of appraisal other than Dave the pedal car guy in Australia or take some photos to the Bendigo swap meet (not much use unless you are in Australia) in November and ask a few Poole there usually a couple of pedal car guys turn up.
Ar yours this type or cyclops
