New shape. Stamp is rubbed off on bottom or never was one. This piece looks like it's an older one because of the darker shade, bubbles in glass, and casing of color-see top. Needs a lid or frog. I'll be working on that. Thanks for looking~

Thanks Rick55, sklo42, Alan2310, What does OD mean?
    5. Alan2310 Alan2310, 9 years ago
      Sorry, outside diameter

Oh, OK OD is 5". Do you see how there are two layers of glass casing the colors from top view? I'm wondering if this technique may have been the grandfather of the one-layer spatter. Perhaps one technique (idea) led to another easier or better way to get the same effect, but with more light and therefore brighter colors with the newer technique for the same idea (multi-color spatter with a base color)?

Thanks for input as always O&S, and you're probably right about the economy being the reason behind the change of technique. Those 3 layer pieces are darker and were never my favorites as so, but they are slowly growing on me.....:) I still like a good hat.

      Hi
      EZa
5 inch, wow this is big, like oldandsilly mention, you can use without !, but always better with it.
I just asking the OD size, because i have a few spare here, i will be more then happy to send you one, but the larger i have is 3 inch.

OOps! I forgot to add measurements. 5 1/8" tall, 5" outside diameter, 3 3/8" opening, 2 3/4" base. Maybe we have the same ones, Alan2310!
    10. Alan2310 Alan2310, 9 years ago
Oh well, that's not really matter, look good anyway, like this:-D

You're right of course: any lid which is not original is distracting and takes away from the piece. The reason I had lids made for the other pieces, was that I saw an image of an urn I have with the glass lid intact. So every time I looked at it - I saw something lacking. My intention was to have something that seemed like it would fit with the style and age. But, since I was not the one who made the lids, it was not exactly what I had envisioned. On the other hand, I like having lids, and the glass is mine until I croak- for the next 30 years or less...or more:). So, it would probably be wise if I left the lids off for posting on this site, so I don't irritate the glass experts, and just enjoy them at home in my ignorant bliss.

I feel it would be a pity if any of us come to think we must conform to a particular aesthetic and so go against what we ourselves think. If it's your glass it's your choice EZa.....
    13. Alan2310 Alan2310, 9 years ago
Peggy is right, this is your glass your choice, there no Expert here, different degrees of knowledge that's all.
Post your glass the way you like it, disregard what others would think.
Experts work for museums, not for CW, we are just friendly group of collectors.

No worries. Taking it as constructive criticism. I'm just disappointed the lids didn't mesh a little better with the style and age- and look like they might be married. It just makes me more determined to come up with a lid that does work better. So maybe we'll see in the future if I can pull it off~

No hard feelings, O&S. I always enjoy hearing from you. I am a bit frustrated that what I had in my head was not translated to reality. BUT! I'll keep trying to make my vision become reality.

Very funny! They don't show up very often, so I feel compelled to even as I'm running out of room for any more. I almost turned to collecting Weller, but it's too expensive, and some of the tan spatter has been popping up. Happy Collecting!????

      Disregard the question marks ???

Right!! the chase is the best isn't it? I can't find all the goodies, and I'm busy much of the time, so perhaps there is enough for both of us:))))

Hi EZa! Your footed bowl without the lid is very similar to one in a photo of a hoard of Czech glass that I encountered in Florida this spring. I include the link and you can see it with a cover in photo #1 and #4 to the very left. BOB

LOUMANAL, yes, YES! That's exactly how I pictured the lid in my mind! Wonderful to see one that is intact. What a dreamy collection of glass- Thanks for sharing:)

Thank you, Vintagefran. It's actually rather a small dark little piece, but does wonderful things in the light.
