In his previous post Ozmarty asked for more informations on early Fritz Heckert bird vases. Here are some examples for comparison with his post. The backside of the pheasant vase shows details of the typical floral enameling characteristic for Fritz Heckert and the design by Otto Jummel about 1890. The last pink vase exhibits the very same birds as the vase published on page 83 Fig.85 in the book "Fritz Heckert Kunstglas Industrie 1866-1923" by Stefania Zelasko, edited by Georg Hoeltl, Glasmuseum Passau. All three vases are quite large, a little bit more then 30 cm. They are blown from the top and have no pontil.

Thank you so much . I did not know Heckert did this type of work .
I must have missed them or been overwhelmed when last at Passau..
I will now have to buy Stefania 's book on Heckert .
Are any of them marked with know Fritz Heckert marks?
    4. ozmarty ozmarty, 9 years ago
The first bird looks like a fanciful Peacock not see another like it .
I think the ones in my last post are of European Woodpeckers .
    5. kairomalte, 9 years ago
None of the vases are marked, nevertheless Heckert.

Ozmarty, he bird on your vase is no European Woodpecker, it is the smallest European bird, about 9 cm large, it is called "Wintergoldhaehnchen" which might be translated into "winter-golden-cockerel"

Thanks again .. looks like you are correct

Wonderful vases and informative post. Thank u. I had no idea Fritz Heckert made vases like these either and would never have guessed it. I'm used to seeing FH fanciful decoration but not birds.
