A Jenny Lind restoration/redesign

We were asked to restore this old Jenny Lind trunk (picture on the right is what it looked like when it arrived at our shop) using black leather for the exterior. The client also requested that we incorporate some red into this restoration which we did in the form of a red piping, which we sparingly used on the left and right metal bands and also as an accent on the leather envelope attached to the drop-down lid interior compartment. It was a fun restoration and the owner was pleased with our work and the 3rd photo shows it back at home in his living room. We featured this restoration on our website recently too, and suddenly had an influx of requests from people also wanting a similar treatment for their Jenny Lind. When working on Jenny Lind trunks, I'm still in awe of the fact that they were originally built (usually) around 155 years ago! I'm hoping this one will make it to 300!
