Here I have two Silver Brooches one made by Bernard Instone, the other is by Shipton & Co, which is marked. They are more or less identical, I wonder if anybody can tell me which is which. They are more less the same size and weight, one of the brooches has Connemara Marble stones, the other as Citrine stones. Both of them in my opinion were designed by Bernard Instone. They are both, of very good quality, and the Silver leaves on both of the brooches are pleasing to the eye. So can you tell, which is Bernard Instone and which is Shipton & Co. Jewels1900 your excluded, lol, I'm sure you'll know.

      I want to play! :-)
But my answer will be a guess!
Citrine is Instone (well detailed leaves, silver balls) but... Not sure at all :-D
Both are so similar and beautiful!

Hi Kyra, may be your right, or may be your wrong. I'm interested in other people's opinions. :-)

      Yes, me too :-))

      Hi Kyra,
Lucky guess, yes your right. The one on the right is Shipton and co, it has the shipton & co makers mark and the Birmingham hallmark also a mark that it was made in 1963. Well done. The Bernard Instone brooch only has silver stamped on.

It was obviously luck! After posting my comment, I had regrets, because of the citrines, and the back construction seeming more artisanal...
Totally agree with Jewels1900 about mis attributions.
See the number of Nossiter attributed to Dunlop!!!

I agree with both you and Jewels1900. I thought this post would be interesting because of that reason. The Bernard Instone brooch would probably have been made in the 1930, the Shipton brooch was made in 1963, it's interesting that Bernard Instone his self retired around at time.

Hi Elesgirl, thanks for your comment, it's great to hear that other people like the same style of jewellery as myself. I hope you managed to get some decent sleep.
