Found today at an estate sale and fell in love. Larger trunk (don't have tape measure to measure at this time)- roughly 3 1/2 feet long by 2 feet tall with 4 small wheels, removable drawer on inside, leather handles in good condition. No clue on year made- no maker identification that I could see/am aware of but I'm new to this. Happy with this find and can't wait to find more :) wondering if this is a steamer trunk.
Almost forgot to add the lady's mother kept her dolls in this- she had lots of them.
You have a lovely 1890's to turn of the century trunk. It is not a "steamer trunk" per se as those are the half size trunks -- although most of the time any size trunk is referred to as a steamer trunk. Without a label it is too difficult to know who made this as many were made in this style using common parts. I will say however that the maker used a very beautiful front lock in the "East Lake" style -- nice added feature to yours. Lovely lithograph on the interior lid which is common. Nice find!
Thank you for the information, I have a lot to learn. I love the lock-it's what drew me to it. Once again thank you! Have a great day!
Love the lock and lithograph!
Hi -- you were asking about how to improve the odor in a trunk.... and there are a few ways to help in this regard. I place a dryer sheet in mine -- seems to help. Of course opening it up in the sun for a while to air out helps too. There where other good suggestions on someone's previous post -- If I come across it I will send the link.
