Had dinner with my boss Richard Shay's father Art Shay earlier this year. Later in the evening he told stories of him flying in WW II and showing my husband and I some of his photographs. He gave me one of the pictures he took of Diana Ross & the Supremes from 1963 and signed it, I was beside myself, absolutely delightful man. Art has written for Life magazine, done photo journalism for Life, Time & Sports Illustrated, written many books and also flown 52 bomber missions. Art still stays very active showing at many different art institutes.

Wow ... Just looking at his pictures and reading about him ... Wow
Yes he is pretty amazing :) Love him to death, always has a smile on his face when I see him. His son Richard (also a photographer) is a blast to work for too!

Fantastic post - he sounds like one of life's great treasures - an inspiration.
One of his recent exhibits was a lot of fun attending. It was pretty amazing listening to people interact with him, so many questions people asked and his responses were very quick and precise. Art is one sharp tack and very witty to boot. His son Richard is very much like him. They can be very quiet sometimes too because they are observers, they see everything.
Very cool post:) put that photo in a special frame.
Thank you Trey :) I will eventually, right now I have it tucked away with the books he signed for me too :)
Wonderful post! Nothing like living history; a member of the Greatest Generation.
Definitely, some of the funniest stories he has told has been being chased by Chicago mobsters back in the day for taking their pictures.
How sweet and special. Love it.!
Thank you one good find, he will be 94 the end of this month and he is still kicking ass. He has had quite a few art show this past year.
