I got this hammer along with many other wood tools from a great grandfather who was a finish carpenter. He also was known for faux wood painting. This hammer has a end that is exactly like a paint can opener key and it has a gauge incised in one side down the shank. smallish hammer head. I have been using it as a paint can opener and closer. But what is it?
Carpenter, painter or cobbler tool?
Probably what you are using it for. Trade secret: put a piece of masking tape across the edge of the top & side of your cans & cut it at the lid. That way, you always put the lid back in the exact same position.
