These were found in my grandmothers dining room buffet. I don't recall them being used by the family during special meals but there was a time early on where I wasn't very observant. They are marked sterling and the silver portion is formed to the glass where the only way to remove the silver trim would be to break the glass. Like that's ever gonna happen. A very cool piece of aristocratic early Americana.
We had these too, I wonder where they are now? I'll have to ask my mom if she still has them somewhere...knowing her, she does!
Hi, Thanks for taking the time to take a peek and for your comment. I hope you are able to find yours. I really don't keep up with new silver products on the market but in all my travels here and there, when it comes to antiques in general, I've never seen silver and glass coasters before. Maybe they are a common item, and I have just not run into any others. Regardless, I'm glad I have these eight. Thanks again.
I have some of these . Yard sale finds. I like clear glass as well as the clean lines of stainless steel. That's what attracted me to these pieces. Mine are marked " Italy". Will post pictures.
