Everyone.
I found this Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl porcelain fish few day's ago, very beautiful piece of porcelain, this trout no 2169 was design by Svend Jespersen from Bing & Grondahl, the color are so realist,,, look like the real one, circa 1980-90(out of production today)
This little trout was 6 inch long by 2 inch hight.

Royal Copenhagen porcelain and pottery have been made in Denmark since 1775. The Christmas plate series started in 1908. The figurines with pale blue and gray glazes have remained popular in this century and are still being made. Many other old and new style porcelains are made today. Famous tableware series include Blue Fluted, made since 1775, Blue Flowers, Julian Marie, and Saxon Flower, all made since about 1880.
When Bing & Grondahl and Royal Copenhagen produced a lot of fish figurines, the fishing industry was at its peak, and of utmost importance for Denmark. As with agriculture, fishing employed many people and therefore figurines of fish also are found in many fishermen's homes. Either because the special fish had an impact on the fisherman - if he fished for perch, there was probably a figure of perch in the living room - or simply because there would be a fish figurine in the house.
Today it is often anglers who are looking for specific fish figurines of their favorite fish. Figurines of perch, trout and eel are especially popular. Others are simply passionated collectors of all kinds of porcelain figurines of fish and collect Royal Copenhagen fish as well as Bing & Grondahl fish. Other people collect figurines made by a particular artist.

Hi Alan - it is not quite correct to call it a Royal Copenhagen item as Bing & Grondahl was only taken over by RC in 1987, and the mark on this fish indicates that it was made much earlier than that... (the B & G in blue was used up to 1947). Bing & Grondahl was established in 1853 in Copenhagen. I think your fish was designed by Peter Dahl-Jensen (famous for his figurines).

Now i am confuse, because if you look the last picture, its engraved S J between the front fin , stand for"Svend Jespersen" and the number #2169 was is Design

The second Paragraph was his design number.
I will be more then happy if this piece was mid twenty century, but not convinced.
