A very well built BB+B trunk.Built in the same way Taylor trunks were built. Not sure who came first. All I know is if you ever remove the canvas from one of these trunks, you will have your work cut out for you. Its almost like it was glued on with epoxy. Wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.
wow,,. have one in the garage and was planning on stripping even tho its not that bad ...lol maybe I'll just leave it alone ...thanks for the info ...trunk looks great
Fabulous! -- okay -- what is a BB+B trunk? I have never seen the hardware shined up so beautifully.... perhaps the ones I pick up are further gone and more pitted. Such a lovely piece...
Trunkman here's a link to some info on BB+B trunks. The hardware was in excellent condition so it cleaned up nicely http://www.hmsantiquetrunks.com/uploads/3/3/2/7/3327980/2634591_orig.jpg
Thanks for the comment!!!
Thanks so much for the info -- I have never heard mention of them before -- judging by this example they made high end pieces... is there something about their trunks that set them apart or that I could readily recognize if it had no label? (since I am always on the lookout) -- the insert tray assembly seems unique...
Trunkman,
I had originally thought this was a Taylor trunk, but it had a makers label and metal tag.I always look for the unusual, so the continuous metal corners always catch my eye. You never know what you may find.
Thanks everyone for the comments
Here are two more examples of a label.
Yes, the worst glue on the planet,I've done 3 so far.
But one of my favorite styles.Love your work.

Thanks Drill
Both of these labels are also in my trunk as well
Beautiful job on this great trunk! yes, the B.B.& B is for Boyd, Boyd, & Boyd...
I've done a couple of the Taylor trunks that had the canvas cemented on... wow, what a job to remove!! A few makers did make trunks that looked like the Taylor trunks including McNamara in Chicago and even Goldsmith in Newark, NJ made a few with this type hardware. Very strong trunks!
