I bought this Donut teapot complete with its original satin lined box believing I could research but but sadly I cannot . I have even taken photographs to a local Chinese takeaway in the hope they would be able read the mark for me but all the staff as well as the owner were left scratching their heads . She is Cantonese and recognises that the writing is Chinese but it's ancient writing in her own words thousands of years old and she is not able to read ancient text. I know this piece is modern (ish) possible 30-50yrs old but I have ground to a halt regarding the potters mark.
Please if anyone could help I'd be forever grateful .
I have listed this as a Chinese antique in the category section just to try and reach the right people but I am aware this is not an antique.
Thanking you all in advance
So sorry I only had the photo's on my phone and when they uploaded onto this site they displayed sideways. I do apologise but hope you are still able to read the text even if you have to turn your laptop to an unusual angle.
Many thanks
Jackie
It's reads Qianlong. The most common reign mark is "Qianlong nian zhi". Qianlong is just the first two character of the whole mark.
And you are right, it's a modern copy.
