ARTE VETRARIA MURANESE - TUTTI FRUTTI BOWL
Tuesdays are better buying days for me .... but this week it was Wednesday ... same shop but I think they are toying with me! I went down late and found this huge bowl still in the window !!!
I picked it up with difficulty. It weighs five kilos ....that's over 11 lbs and checked for chips on the way to the counter. It wasn't cheap but pieces of Italian glass these days are not easily found.
The Tutti Frutti pieces by A.Ve.M. are an acquired taste ... totally over the top. The Fifties !!!
The factory itself dates back to 1932 when Antonio Luigi Ferro, his son Egidio Ferro, Emilio Nason, and Galliano Ferro got together in Murano. Giulio Radi was the artistic director and together they created some extraordinary designs in glass. Desires in Glass !!!
The Tutti Frutti pieces however are more mill of the run. They were done on a few base colours. In this case the bowl is ruby glass with an applied tooled foot.
The 'Tutti Frutti' pieces are also called 'Bizantino'.
The decoration includes zanfirico and millefiori pieces with metallic inclusions of copper, gold and silver.
But this is BIG !!!!
Over 35 cm or 13.7" diagonally.
It weighs 5 kilos or 11.02 lbs.
big and bold, cracking find.

Maybe he has gotten use to the times you come in & for some reason is toying with the pieces but you think he would be more inclined to put them out. By the way I love this bowl it's a perfect eye catcher, if you just want to have the odd item around this would be a perfect piece to fill the room. Love it

Mark asked me the other day if a Ipad would be any good to me but I know very little about them. If I used a Ipad how often would I have to open my computer to make sure it stays clean as of lately I haven't been on line much at all that's why I was shocked when after 2 days all my usage was gone. The wrong person nearly got his neck broken my man hates anyway giving me a hard time & abusing my good nature well it's good most of the time until I'm crossed. I felt someone out yesterday that I thought may of be playing games as his computer shows up were it shows you your passwords & such as optus comes up & I don't use that was told it's because they are near by if his lying after he found out Marks qualifications in his Martial Arts 6 different styles also what he learnt in the Army he it himself so I think he will stay away.
I use mine all the time. I'd suggest one.
I may just take Mark up on the offer would I be able to use the ipad to do the security on my laptop with it or would I have to open it up to run it also
am I on an alternate planet? sometimes it feels like I am ...
I love you line "mill of the run" , I plan on running with that shortly....
beautiful bowl and if you don't have a shelf strong enough to take it, there is one in Melbourne...lol

maybe the coolest designs to come out of Murano = bizantino ;-)
I am sure you probably have more valuable pieces but after looking at all your posts this is the piece I find most fascinating, like an abstract painting
I rarely see these Bizantino pieces for sale other than a few in Murano at relatively high prices
oddly enough the only 2 pieces I have were purchased in Switzerland at quite reasonable prices

I had to look twice at this one, as the interior looks a lot like fairyland lustre on a quick glance of the small pic. That interior really packs a punch with its internal beauty, almost want to put a lighted base under a piece like this !~
